The Bharath Abhyudaya Seva Samithi called as BASS located in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh is a registered non-governmental organization NGO established in 1978. BASS seeks to improve the livelihoods of children, youth, women and vulnerable people—those who are at the highest risk due to challenging socio-economic conditions. BASS works to bring relief and opportunity to rural and urban communities negatively impacted by poverty. The activities of the organization seek to promote social justice, equality and empowerment to disadvantaged peoples and victims of disasters include Covid 19 without any discrimination. BASS facilitates relief activities including: educational, economic, social, health and medical care and emergency relief and rehabilitation services. For the past 42 years, BASS has been actively organizing relief and rehabilitation services, providing much needed resources to disaster victims and displaced people. BASS received best appreciation service award from Collector, Guntur for Covid 19 Relief activities done during 2020 and 2021 on the occasion of 75th Indian Independence Day celebrations 15th August 2021.

BASS Registrations

BASS is legally entitled to receive charitable donations as a registered organization under the Societies Registration Act 1860 with wide registered No.162 of 1978 dated 16-12-1978. BASS also registered with the Indian Ministry of Home Affairs under the Foreign Contributions (Regulation) Act, 1976 with registered number 010190145 and renewal dated  30-09-2022; As well as BASS being registered under 12 A  and 80G of Income Tax  Exemptions registrations Renewed 2023.   BASS annually submits financial and income tax documentation to the Government of India’s Ministry of Home Affairs. The organization’s Executive Body is regularly renewed, as per our organizational bylaws.

BASS programs are implemented by 24 qualified and specifically skilled staff members and 20 dedicated volunteers.  The chief Coordinator of BASS is Mr. Joseph Anthony Chukka who earned the diploma in Community Based Development in 2004 from Coady International Institute, St. Francis Xavier University of Canada. Additionally, Mr. Anthony specializes in the eradication of child labor—which is a critical aspect of our work.

BASS maintains an experienced team of medical doctors and health care providers who oversee the wellbeing of project beneficiaries.  BASS is a forerunner in serving the poor, and as such seeks to create an enabling environment wherein beneficiaries’ livelihoods are improved and their vulnerabilities are mitigated. BASS maintains an office building in the city of Guntur, as well as field offices in Gopalapuram village.
